Sprinkler System Maintenance

Maintaining Your Sprinkler System

Over Denver’s hot summer months, you may need to run your sprinkler system 60 times or more to keep your lawn and garden properly watered. Over that number of uses, which may be for up to 45 minutes each time depending on the type of sprinkler you have, it’s possible for your sprinkler system to develop problems. High heat, sun, tree roots, and work in the yard can all cause further damage to your sprinkler system.

Once problems develop in your sprinkler system, they can lead to water waste and/or failure to properly water your lawn. Performing regular maintenance of your sprinkler system ensures you catch these problems before your lawn dies or you get a huge water bill. NationScapes’ expert sprinkler technicians can perform sprinkler maintenance as part of our annual sprinkler care program, or you can request sprinkler maintenance if you suspect a problem. Please call 303-934-9130 or use our online form to request sprinkler maintenance.

Routine Maintenance for Maximum Effectiveness

Regular sprinkler maintenance ensures your system is working as it should all summer long. Maintenance helps you to keep watering the lawn as necessary without wasting any water.

As part of our regular sprinkler maintenance program, we will:

  • Inspect sprinkler heads for clogging and damage
  • Adjust sprinkler heads to ensure proper coverage
  • Test sprinkler pressure to check for leaks
  • Visually inspect watered area for signs of over- and underwatering
  • Inspect valves and sprinkler manifold
  • Test electrical components of sprinkler system
  • Test sprinkler pump(s)
  • Inspect drip system for leaks and uneven pressure
  • Test backflow preventer

Sprinkler heads can easily get clogged with dirt or roots. This might prevent them from functioning properly. They might also get damaged by a strike from garden tools like a hoe, rake, or lawnmower. We’ll make sure sprinkler heads are free from clogs and damage. Then we’ll adjust your sprinkler heads to make sure they’re spraying where they should and not spraying on pavement.

We’ll check your system pressure to make sure it’s not losing water to broken or split pipes. We’ll look for signs of over- and underwatering that might be caused by leaks or pinched pipes. Then we’ll check out the valves and manifold to make sure they’re sealed.

We’ll test the valves and electrical components of your sprinkler system to make sure they are functioning properly. If you have one or more pumps to ensure proper pressure in your sprinkler system, we’ll test them.

We can also inspect your drip system. We’ll look for leaks and for places where the water pressure is too high for the system, causing unintended spray.

Finally, we’ll test the backflow preventer for your sprinkler system. This component protects your home water from getting contamination from dirt, fertilizer, and pesticides that might enter your sprinkler lines.

Reliable Quotes for Repairs

If our routine maintenance identifies any need for sprinkler repairs, we will let you know. Then we’ll provide you with a reliable quote for repairs. In NationScapes’ 75 years of operation, we have performed many repairs on many different types of systems. We know how much it will take in parts and labor. When we give you a quote for repairs, you can count on its accuracy.

When you get our quote, you are welcome to request quotes from other repair services. However, we caution you to make sure you are comparing quotes evenly. Make sure you are comparing:

  • Actual quotes (not a casual over-the-phone guesstimate)
  • Comparable value parts
  • Warranties for parts and labor

Some Denver sprinkler companies will happily lowball an offer upfront to secure a job, then deliver a bill much higher than their initial estimate. At NationScapes, we always use quality parts with a minimum of five years’ warranty coverage on both parts and labor. Many sprinkler companies use cheap parts to get quotes approved, and don’t care whether you will need to replace these parts again next year.
